I’m an early career academic and started teaching in 2012, following on from a marketing position at the University.
My first degree is in Corporate Communication and I have a Masters is in Project Management. My Masters dissertation was an exploratory study of the value of project management tools and techniques in creative industries where I considered fashion management as a case and carried out a range of interviews with fashion managers in the North East of Scotland. This research helps to fill a gap in the literature, in that there was (at this time) no research that dealt with application of project management in more creative industries like fashion.
Marcella, M. and Rowley, S. (2015). An exploration of the extent to which project management tools and techniques can be applied across creative industries through a study of their application in the fashion industry in the North East of Scotland. International Journal of Project Management. 33 (4). Pp. 725-746.
My current research focus, as part of my PhD is on the adoption of Scottish identity in and fashion and style context online, with a particular focus on visual media like blogs and Instagram.
